Wheel Hub with Bearing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Grease Cap Puller (VW 637/2)

Seal Installer (3241)

Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Bit XZN 18 (T10162)

Removing

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove the wheel.

Loosen the dust cap using the grease cap puller (VW 637/2) , tap lightly on the claw of the tool.






- Pry off dust cap using the grease cap puller (VW 637/2).






- Remove the brake carrier and brake caliper and secure them to the body with wire.

Secure the brake caliper to the body.

- Remove the brake rotor bolt and the brake rotor.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - using the bit XZN 18 (T10162) - 2 -.






Never use an impact wrench when removing the bolt - 1 - using the bit XZN 18 (T10162) - 2 -!

- Remove the wheel hub with bearing - 2 - from the wheel bearing housing stub axle.






Installing

- Carefully slide the wheel hub with bearing onto wheel bearing housing stub axle.

Make sure that wheel hubs with bearing does not tilt!

- Tighten the new bolt to specification.

First, tighten the bolt to specification using a torque wrench.

Then, using a ratchet, tighten the bolt the additional torque angle.






Never use an impact wrench when tightening the bolt - 1 - using the bit XZN 18 (T10162) - 2 -!

- Install a new dust cap.

Always replace the dust cap.

A damaged dust cap allow moisture to enter. Therefore, always use the tool shown.

Further installation is the reverse of removal.

- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specifications ] Wheel Bolt Tightening Specifications.
