Differential Assembly: Testing and Inspection






Vehicle Diagnostic Tester, Connecting and Function Selecting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)

or Vehicle Diagnosis and Service Information System (VAS 5052)

Diagnostic Cable, 3 m with Power Supply (VAS 5051/1)

or Diagnostic Cable, 5 m without Power Supply (VAS 5051/3)

Measurement and testing procedures should be performed as follow to avoid the risk of an accident:

Only the vehicle diagnostic tester (VAS 5051 A) or (VAS 5052) may be used to read out measured value blocks. The device must always be secured on the rear seat and operated from there by a second person.

- Turn off the ignition and connect the vehicle diagnostic tester - 1 - to the diagnostic connection using the diagnostic lead (VAS 5051/1) or (VAS 5051/3) - 2 -.






Installed location: Left front foot well.

The tester is ready to be used when it displays a picture (photograph) of a vehicle.

Starting "Guided Fault Finding":

- Turn on the ignition.

- Press the "Guided Fault Finding" button on the screen.

- Then select the following one after the other:

Brand

Type

Model year

Version

Engine code

- Confirm the entered data.

Wait for the tester to check all the control modules in the vehicle.

- Press GO TO and then select "function/component selection".

Follow the displays on the screen to start the desired functions.
