Removal
• Note usage and safety notes for halogen lamps, refer to => [ Application and Safety
Notes ] Halogen Headlamps.
• During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the Coming Home / Leaving Home functions on its own.
In order to be able to replace the bulb, it is sometimes necessary to remove neighboring components at the corresponding headlamp.
- Refer to the following table as to which components are to be removed depending on engine version, in order to replace the bulb.
• The following figures show the replacement of the right headlamp bulb.
• The left headlamp bulb is replaced is the same way.
- Twist off housing cover - 2 -.
• Lamp - 2 - is clipped into the reflector.
• When removing lamp - 2 -, the connector is not disconnected first.
- Push the connector and thereby the lamp socket sideways in one direction, e.g. to - arrow 2 - until the lamp can be felt as being loose.
- Pull the lamp at the connector out of the reflector.
- Guide lamp - A - with the connector connected out of the headlamp housing.
- Pull the lamp off of the connector.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
Lamp socket - 2 - has an anti-twist mechanism - A arrows -.
- Guide lamp tab - arrow - into headlamp anti-twist mechanism - A arrows -.
- Push lamp into retaining tabs - 3 and 4 - of reflector.
• The lamp must engage audibly.
• When installing housing cover, check for proper fitting. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.
If this bulb is replaced, the headlamp adjustment must be then checked and adjusted if necessary.
- Check headlamp for function.
