Roof Pillar Trim Tensioning Bands Assembly Overview

• The sequence for securing tensioning bands must be followed exactly.





1 Tensioning Band 1

• Routing from rear guide rail to rear window frame hinge.

• Routing plan, refer to => [ Routing Tension Band 1 ]

2 Tensioning Band 2

• Routing from rear guide rail to rear window frame hinge.

• Routing plan, refer to => [ Routing Tension Band 2 ]

3 Roof Pillar Trim

Routing Tension Band 1

• To support roof, both sides of luggage compartment trim should be either removed or installed.

• The bypass screw on the hydraulic pump must be opened after the repair position has been reached on vehicle from May 07. This prevents damaging the hydraulic system.





- Open roof with convertible top operating switch until rear lid with rear shelf is tipped back.

- Open hydraulic pump bypass valve.

- Place (VAS 6365) in center position - 2 -.

- Secure (VAS 6365) on rear window frame locking mechanism - 1 -.

- Lower rear window frame until supports - 4 - are positioned on longitudinal member - 5 -.

• All screws are microencapsulated and must always be replaced.

• Bolt tightening specification 3 Nm





• Roof pillar trim - 7 - is not installed.

- Secure eye - 2 - on rear guide rail. Alignment of eye is parallel to outer edge of guide rail.

- Secure guide spring eye - 3 - on rear window frame hinge.

- Secure guide spring eye - 4 - on rear arm of rear window frame hinge.

- Secure eye - 5 - from inside on front arm of rear window frame hinge. Alignment of eye is parallel to edge of arm.

- Secure end eye - 6 - on rear arm of rear window frame hinge. Alignment of eye is vertical toward top.

Routing Tension Band 2

• All screws are microencapsulated and must always be replaced.

• Bolt tightening specification 3 Nm





• Roof pillar trim - 1 - is not installed.

- Secure eye - 3 - on rear guide rail. The eye is aligned diagonally to guide rail.

- Secure eye - 4 - on front arm of rear window frame hinge. Alignment of eye is vertical toward top.

- Secure eye - 5 - on rear arm of rear window frame hinge. Alignment of eye is horizontal.

- Secure end eye - 6 - under eye - 4 - on front arm of rear window frame hinge. The alignment of the eye - 6 - is horizontal and at a right angle to eye - 4 -.

- Install roof pillar trim.
