Clutch Overview, LuK

• Replace the clutch disc and pressure plate if the rivets are damaged or loose.

• Replace the pressure plate and the clutch disc together.

• Either a "Sachs" or a "LuK" clutch may be installed.

• Allocate the clutch disc and pressure plate to match the engine code. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

• Clean the input shaft splines and (on a used clutch disc) the hub splines. Remove any corrosion and apply a very thin coating of grease for clutch plate splines (G 000 100) onto the splines. Then move the clutch disc back and forth on the input shaft until the hub moves freely on the shaft. Remove any excess grease.

• The pressure plate is corrosion protected and lubricated. Only the running surfaces may be cleaned. Otherwise the service life of the clutch will be shortened considerably.

• The pressure plate contact surface and the clutch disc lining must completely touch the flywheel. Install the bolts.

• Make sure the alignment sleeves for centering the engine/transmission are installed inside the cylinder block. Install them if necessary.

• If the alignment sleeves are missing, it will be difficult to shift, there will be clutch problems and the transmission may make noises (loose rattling).

1 Dual Mass Flywheel

• Make sure it fits securely on the alignment sleeves.

• Keep the clutch lining contact surface free of grooves, oil and grease.

2 Clutch Disc

• For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch, LuK ] Clutch, LuK.

• Only replace together with the SAC pressure plate.

• Installed position, refer to => [ Clutch Disc Installed Position ] Clutch, LuK.

3 SAC Pressure Plate

• SAC = "Self-Adjusting Clutch"

• Only replace together with the clutch disc.

• For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch, LuK ] Clutch, LuK.

• Checking the ends of the diaphragm spring. Refer to => [ Checking the Ends of the Diaphragm Spring ] Clutch, LuK.

• Checking the spring and rivet connections. Refer to => [ Checking the Ends of the Diaphragm Spring ] Clutch, LuK.

• Only check the position of the adjustment mechanism on a new pressure plate. Refer to => [ Only check the position of the adjustment mechanism on a new pressure plate. ] Clutch, LuK.

4 Bolt

• M6 - 13 Nm

• M7 - 20 Nm

• For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.

• Loosen and tighten in small steps and in a diagonal sequence.
