Warning Lamp Symbols In Instrument Panel Insert

Assignment of warning lamps in instrument cluster is dependent on equipment, country and engine versions of vehicle.

Different instrument clusters are used, depending on vehicle equipment. Therefore, the arrangement of the control lamps may deviate from the illustration.






1 - Glow Plug System/Diesel Engine Management Indicator Lamp

Illuminates: Glow plug system switched on (diesel engines)

Blinking: Malfunction in the engine control (diesel engines)

2 - Engine Interference (EPC)

Indicator lamp only present in vehicles with gasoline engine

3 - Diesel Particulate Filter Indicator Lamp

4 - Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Lamp

Engine oil pressure too low

Stop engine and check oil level

5 - Bulb Failure Or Cornering Lamp System Malfunction Indicator Lamp

Illuminates: either a bulb has failed or there is a malfunction in the dynamic cornering lamp AFS (adaptive front lighting system)

Blinking: malfunction in the dynamic cornering lamp AFS (adaptive front lighting system)

6 - Rear Fog Lamp Indicator Lamp

Switched on

7 - Windshield Washer Fluid Level Indicator Lamp

Washer fluid level in reservoir too low

8 - High Beam Indicator Lamp

Switched on

9 - Safety Belt Indicator Lamp

Fasten seat belts!

10 - Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Indicator Lamp

Malfunction

11 - Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) Indicator Lamp

Blinking: Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) regulating

Illuminates: ESP malfunction or switched off

12 - Parking Brake / Brake System Indicator Lamp

Illuminates: Brake system malfunction

Illuminates: Brake fluid low - stop engine and check brake fluid

13 - Cruise Control System (CCS) Indicator Lamp

Cruise control regulating

14 - Tire Pressure Monitor (TPMS) Indicator Lamp

The pressure in a tire is too low or there is a system malfunction

15 - Brake Pad Indicator Lamp

Brake pads worn

16 - "Depress Foot Brake" Indicator Lamp

Request from the DSG(R) transmission

Indicator lamp is only on vehicles with direct shift transmission (DSG(R))

17 - Fuel Gauge Indicator Lamp

Fuel level too low (reserve quantity)

18 - Door Open Indicator Lamp

One or more doors are open or not closed completely

19 - Rear Lid Open Indicator Lamp

Rear lid is open or not latched completely

20 - Airbag System/Belt Tensioner System Indicator Lamp

Airbag and/or belt tensioner system faulty

21 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL)

Emission system malfunction

22 - Electro-Mechanical Power Steering Indicator Lamp

Yellow: electro-mechanical steering is reduced

Red: electro-mechanical steering is not working

23 - Engine Coolant Temperature Indicator Lamp

Engine coolant temperature is too high or

Coolant level is too low

24 - Generator Indicator Lamp

Malfunction in generator

25 - Surrounding Area Observation System Indicator Lamp

Switched on
