Navigation Radio - Software Update For Various Issues

Radio, Navigation RNS510 Flash for Various Functionality Concerns

Note:
Software update does not apply to units that have software 980 and higher. Downgrading the software will cause loss of functionality. Radios that are replaced due to this will be debited back to the dealer.

^ Speaker feedback or hum from the rear speakers. May occur with the unit being off

^ On startup, media interface functions starts, even though unit was shut off with another audio source such as FM

^ PIN code required unnecessarily

^ PIN code not accepted

^ GPS only available with map DVD inserted

^ Map data not completely copied on to the hard drive

^ DVD/CD not recognized

^ SD card or hard drive can not be selected

^ Unit freezes or hangs up

^ Unit resets itself off with cracking/banging

^ Loss of presets

Slow boot up time

^ GPS map display freezes

^ No sound after diagnosis

^ No sound

^ Destination can not be saved or lost

^ Unit switches itself off

^ GPS location not recognized

SW 980 introduced November 2009 beginning with VIN breaks:

Service

Tip:
DO NOT remove navigation unit from vehicle.

^ Connect Midtronics Incharge 940 (INC 940) tester/charger to vehicle's battery.

^ Verify that the touch screen navigation unit has not been updated.

Verify Touch Screen Navigation Software





^ Select Vehicle Self-Diagnosis.

^ Select on Board Diagnostics (OBD).

^ Select 37 - Navigation.

^ Verify the software is not 380/ 382 or higher.

Tip:
If software level is found to be at 380 / 382 or higher, this technical bulletin DOES NOT apply, further diagnosis is required.

Update Programming

Tip:

^ During the programming of the navigation unit, the screen will go blank several times. This is considered normal.

^ If the screen goes blank for more than 30 seconds, press the power button on the navigation unit to resume display.

^ If you receive an error due to "Amp clamp State", then remove the key.

Reprogram navigation unit with CD - Literature Number: RNS510FLSH0380.





^ The key must be removed from the ignition with no disc in the radio.

^ Insert programming CD Part No. RNS51OFLSHO380 in to the radio.

This screen will display showing that the disc has loaded properly.





^ Touch OK" to begin the update.





^ Touch OK to accept.





This screen will be shown while the update is taking place.

Note:

DO NOT cancel update until complete.

DO NOT Start engine.

Disregard timer which appears on lower right side of navigation screen.





Tip:
To restart the software flash for extended delays (+10 minutes), press Eject+Day / Night+Guide buttons at the same time.





Tip:
If this error is noted, use the above tip to force a reload of the software flash.





The system has loaded the update properly.

^ Remove the CD to reboot the navigation unit.

Tip:
If the problem still occurs after the update programming is complete, contact technical assistance by selecting the "Technical Assistance" tab in ElsaWeb and follow the instructions to obtain a 6 digit access code.
