Rear Door
Rear Door
• The design of the rear doors is different from the front doors. The outer door panel cannot be removed. The window regulator and the door lock are accessible when the subframe is removed.

Door Hinge Assembly Overview
• The illustration shows a right door hinge. The left door hinge is identical.
• Always replace the door hinge bolts after loosening them.
• Hinges are no longer manufactured as separated parts.
• Lubricate the new door hinge if the old one was replaced.

New Door Hinge, Lubricating
• Lubricate the new door hinge after the painting is completed.
- Lubricate the upper door hinge - 1 - with lithium grease (G 000 150) all the way around - arrows a - on the pin and hole.
- Lubricate the lower door hinge - 3 - with lithium grease (G 000 150) all the way around - arrows b - on the pin and hole.
- Lubricate the door check torsion spring - 2 - on the lower hinge with lithium grease (G 000 150) - arrows c -.
Door Adjustment
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• 15 mm open ring spanner (T10344)
• The door is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• Vehicle must stand on its wheels while they are on the ground in order to be able to perform the adjustment.
Adjusting the gap dimensions
- Observe gap dimension of front door.
Adjustments are made using the eccentric pin - 6 -.
Other measures, such as aligning the door upward, are not effective. Excess pressure thereafter will again cause the door to sag.
- Loosen the screw - 8 - for the eccentric bolt - 6 -.
- Adjust the eccentric bolt - 6 - within the adjustment range - 10 - using a 15 mm open ring spanner (T10344).
- Tighten screw - 8 -, tightening specification: 28 Nm.
- Adjust the striker pin.
Adjusting the flush dimension
The flush dimension is adjusted using the bolts - 2, 3, 5 and 7 - on the door hinge.
Door adjusting wrench (3320) with bit insert (3320/3) must be used for this.
- In order to adjust the upper area of the door, loosen bolts - 5 and 7 -.
- Bolt - 7 - tightening specifications: 10 Nm.
- Bolt - 5 - tightening specification: 40 Nm.
- In order to adjust the lower area of the door, loosen bolts - 2, 3 and 4 -.
- Bolt - 3 - tightening specifications: 10 Nm.
- Screws - 2 and 4 - tightening specification: 40 Nm.
Always replace the bolts - 2, 4, and 5 - after loosening.
- Adjust the striker pin.
Door, Adjusting Gap Dimensions
If the adjustment using the eccentric bolt is insufficient, then adjust the gap dimensions on the door hinge once again using the screws - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -.
Door adjusting wrench (3320) with bit insert (3320/3) must be used for this.
- Tightening specification for bolts - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -: 20 Nm + 45°.
Always replace the screws - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -.
Striker Pin, Adjusting
• The following describes adjusting the right front door only. Adjusting the left front door is identical.
• When closing, the front door must latch completely without having to press it and it must not have any play.
• The door must not be pushed up or down when adjusting the striker pin.
The striker pin can be used to adjust:
• If the front door does not align with the rear door.
- Loosen the bolts - 2 - and the striker pin - 1 -.
- Adjust the door with the striker pin - 1 - so the door aligns with the side panel when closed. This prevents wind noise.
- Tighten the striker pin - 1 - bolts - 2 -.
Tightening specifications: Bolts - 2 - 20 Nm.
