Clutch Actuation System Overviews

Obtain the antitheft code for the radio before disconnecting the battery.

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

When connecting the battery.

Lubricate the various bearing and contact surfaces with grease (G 000 450 02).

Clutch Pedal Overview






1 Bulkhead

With a mount for the bracket.

2 Gasket

Always replace.

Between the bracket and the bulkhead.

Equipped with a self-adhesive.

Attached to the bracket.

3 Bracket

For clutch pedal mounting.

Some equipment versions have a sound absorber, refer to => [ Bracket with Sound Absorber ].

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Mounting Bracket ] Mounting Bracket.

4 Bolt

5 Over-Center Spring

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Over-Center Spring ] Over-Center Spring.

6 Bushing

7 Pin

8 Clutch Pedal

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.

9 Mount

To remove and install, disconnect the master cylinder from the clutch pedal. Refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.

10 Gasket

Always replace.

Between the master cylinder and the bracket.

11 Master Cylinder

Remove and install after removing the bracket. Refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.

12 Clutch Position Sensor (G476)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ ] Service and Repair.

Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.

The clutch position sensor is called the clutch pedal switch (F36) in "Guided Fault Finding".

13 Circlip

The circlip must be removed in order to remove/install the hose/line assembly.

14 Supply Hose

Rubber

Made of plastic as of 12.05. Refer to => [ Plastic Supply Hose ].

15 Self-Locking Nut

25 Nm

Quantity: 3

For the bracket to the bulkhead.

Always replace

16 Nut

25 Nm

Always replace.

17 Jounce Bumper

For the clutch pedal.

Hydraulics System Overview






1 Brake Fluid Reservoir

2 Spring Clamp

Not on all vehicles.

3 Supply Hose

Rubber

As of 12.05, made of plastic. Refer to => [ Plastic Supply Hose ].

4 Master Cylinder

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Master Cylinder ] Service and Repair.

5 Circlip

To remove and install the hose/line assembly or the plastic line, pull the circlip all the way out.

On some master cylinders, it is pulled out on the side.

6 Seal/O-ring

Installed on the line connection.

Install using brake fluid.

Seal/O-ring suitable for the line connection. Refer to => [ Seals/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly
(or Plastic Line) ].

7 Mount

To remove and install, disconnect the master cylinder from the clutch pedal. Refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.

8 Clutch Pedal

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Pedal ] Clutch Pedal.

9 Self-Locking Nut

25 Nm

Quantity: 3

For the bracket to the bulkhead.

Always replace.

10 Hose/Line Assembly

To remove, the battery and battery tray need to be removed.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Hose/Line Assembly or Plastic Line ] Service and Repair.

11 Bracket

For the hose/line assembly => [ (Item 10) Hose/Line Assembly ].

Attached to the body.

Covered by the assembly mounting.

Bracket differentiation, refer to => [ Bracket Differentiation ].

12 Plastic Line

To remove, the battery and battery tray need to be removed.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Clutch Hose/Line Assembly or Plastic Line ] Service and Repair.

13 Bracket

For the plastic line => [ (Item 12) Plastic Line ].

Attached to the body.

Covered by the assembly mounting.

Bracket differentiation, refer to => [ Bracket Differentiation ].

14 Seal/O-ring

Installed on the line connection.

Install using brake fluid.

Seals/O-ring for the line connection, refer to => [ Seals/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly
(or Plastic Line) ].

15 Breather

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Breather Assembly ] Removal and Replacement.

16 Circlip

To remove and install the hose/line assembly or plastic line and the breather, pull the circlip all the way out.

17 Vent Valve

Clutch system, bleeding. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] 02Q Transmission.

18 Cap

19 Clutch Slave Cylinder

The gasket can only be replaced when the transmission is removed.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing ] Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing.

20 Transmission

Seals/O-ring for the Hose/Line Assembly (or Plastic Line)
