Front Door: Adjustments
Door Adjustment
• The door is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• Vehicle must stand on its wheels while they are on the ground in order to be able to perform the adjustment.
Adjusting the gap dimensions
- Make sure the front door gap dimension is correct.
Adjustments are made using the eccentric pin - 9 -.
Other measures, such as aligning the door upward, are not effective. Excess pressure thereafter will again cause the door to sag.
- Loosen eccentric pin bolt - 6 -.
- Adjust the eccentric bolt - 9 - within the adjustment range - 7 - using a 15 mm open ring spanner (T10344).
- Tighten screw - 6 -, tightening specification: 28 Nm.
- Striker pin, adjusting
Adjusting the flush dimension
The flush dimension is adjusted using the bolts - 2, 3, 5 and 8 - on the door hinge.
Door adjusting wrench (3320) with bit insert (3320/3) must be used for this.
- In order to adjust the upper area of the door, loosen bolts - 5 and 8 -.
- Bolt - 5 - tightening specifications: 10 Nm.
- Bolt - 8 - tightening specification: 38 Nm.
- In order to adjust the lower area of the door, loosen bolts - 2, 3 and 4 -.
- Bolt - 2 - tightening specifications: 10 Nm.
- Screws - 3 and 4 - tightening specification: 38 Nm.
- Striker pin, adjusting
If the adjustment using the eccentric bolt is insufficient, then adjust the gap dimensions on the door hinge once again using the screws - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -.
Door adjusting wrench (3320) with bit insert (3320/3) must be used for this.
- Tightening specification for screws - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -: 50 Nm.
Always replace the screws - 2, 3, 4, and 5 -.
Striker Pin, Adjusting
• When closing, the front door must latch completely without having to press it and it must not have any play.
• By adjusting the striker pin, door must not be pushed upward or downward.
The striker pin can be used to adjust:
• If the front door does not align with the rear door.
- Loosen the bolts - 2 - on the B-pillar to loosen the bracket - 2 -.
- Adjust front door with striker pin - 2 - so that front door aligns with rear door when closed (wind noise).
- Tighten the striker pin - 1 - bolts - 2 -.
Tightening specifications: Bolts - 1 - 20 Nm.
