ABS Mark 70 (ABS/ASR) Component Overview






1 ABS Control Module (w/EDL) (J104)

• Component location: At hydraulic unit on right side of engine compartment.

• Do not disconnect connector before successfully completing On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Switch ignition off before separating connector.

• Removal and installation, refer to => [ Control Module and Hydraulic Unit, Removing ] Control Module and Hydraulic Unit, Removing.

2 ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55)

• Component location: in engine compartment, right.

The hydraulic unit consists of the components:

• ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64)

• Valve block (contains inlet and outlet valves)

• ABS hydraulic pump and valve block must not be separated from each other.

3 Brake Pad Wear Indicator Lamp (K32)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps ] ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps.

4 ABS Warning Lamp (K47)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps ] ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps.

5 Traction Control Indicator Lamp (K86)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps ] ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps.

6 Brake System Warning Lamp (K118)

• Component location: In the instrument cluster.

• Function, refer to => [ ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps ] ABS/ASR Indicator Lamps.

7 Brake Light Switch (F)

• Includes Brake Pedal Switch (F47).

• Component location: On brake master cylinder.

• Removal and installation, refer to => [ Brake Light Switch ] Service and Repair.

8 ASR/ESP Button (E256)

• Component location: in center console.

9 Diagnostic Connection

• Component location: cover in driver footwell.

10 Right Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G45)/Left Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G47)

• Removal and installation, refer to => [ ABS System Components at Front Axle Assembly Overview ] ABS System Components at Front Axle Assembly Overview.

11 Wheel Bearing Unit

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.

12 Right Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G44)/Left Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G46)

• Removal and installation, refer to => [ ABS System Components at Rear Axle Assembly Overview, FWD ] ABS System Components at Rear Axle Assembly Overview, FWD.

13 Wheel Hub with Wheel Bearing

• The ABS sensor ring is installed in the wheel bearing.
