Trunk / Liftgate: Adjustments
Rear Lid, Adjusting
• The vehicle must be on the ground when adjusting the rear lid.
• The rear lid latch - 2 - is attached directly to the rear lid - 1 -. There are no oblong holes in the rear lid, therefore it is not possible to adjust the latch.
• The left and right buffers - 4 - are not for adjusting. They stabilize the hood - 1 -.
• The rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• Rear lid must engage in striker pin - 5 - without great force.
To adjust or check the gap dimensions, use adjustment gauge (3371) => 00 Specifications
- The rear lid - 1 - can be adjusted in the oversize holes on the hinge - arrows a and b - by loosening the nuts - 8 - and the bolts - 9 -.
Bolt - 9 - tightening specification: 10 Nm
Nut tightening specification - 8 -: 24 Nm.
- Adjust left and right adjusting buffers - 3 -.
- Adjust the rear lid - 1 - on the striker pin - 4 -.
• After adjusting, apply a corrosion protectant to the hinge and bolts.
• The rear lid latch - 2 - cannot be adjusted.
Striker Pin, Adjusting
• Loosen the bolts - 1 - and slide the rear lid catch - 2 - in the oversized holes - arrows a and b -.
• Adjust latch bracket - 2 - so that recess of rear lid lock with detent engages at center on latch bracket - 2 -.
- Remove the lock carrier cover.
- Loosen bolts - 1 -.
- Bring the striker pin - 2 - into the top position and tighten the bolts - 1 -.
- Close rear lid and check adjustment.
- Tightening specifications: Bolts - 1 - 23 Nm
Adjustment Buffer, Adjusting
- Tighten the stop - 2 -, bolt tightening specification - 3 -: 10 Nm.
- Remove the cover - 4 - from the adjusting buffer.
- Loosen the bolt - 5 - on the adjusting buffer - 6 - slightly until the buffer can slide into the stop - direction of arrow -.
- Close rear lid to initial locking position - 1 - using light pressure over center.
- Open tailgate again.
- Tighten the bolt - 5 -, tightening specification: 10 Nm.
- Press the cover - 4 - onto the adjusting buffer.
