Auxiliary Air Heater Heating Element, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) with Trigger Clamp 100a (VAS 5051B/7)

Test Conditions

• Intake temperature less than 19° C (66° F).

• Coolant temperature less than 80° C (176° F).

• Passenger compartment temperature approximately 20° C (68° F).

• Battery voltage greater than 11 V.

• Alternator load not greater than 50% (terminal DF).

• Engine speed greater than 450 rpm.

• Turn the interior temperature control to maximum heating.

Test Sequence

- Remove the left footwell vent. Refer to => [ Left Footwell Vent ] Left Footwell Vent.

- Remove the left footwell center console trim.

- Measure the current draw on the ground cable - arrow - using the (VAS 5051B) and the (VAS 5051B/7).






Slight heat output approximately 30 A.

Medium heat out approximately 60 A.

Large heat output approximately 80 A.
