Rear Bumper Assembly Overview

Overview describes removal and installation of rear bumper for vehicles through June of 2005. Removal and installation applies to vehicles from July 2005, except slight changes.

Bumper cover is component part of rear end and is removed together. Refer to => [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ] Rear Section / Rear Fender Assembly Overview.

Observe tightening sequence of bolts - 2 -, - 4 -, - 12 - to ensure surface alignment and joint.





1 Cover

Vehicles through June 2005.

Removing:

- Remove tail lights.

- Remove wheel housing liners. Refer to => [ Rear Wheel Housing Liner ] Service and Repair.

- Remove rear end. Refer to => [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ] Rear Section / Rear Fender Assembly Overview.

- Remove bolts - 4 -and remove clips- 5 - at left and right.

- Remove bolts- 2 - and - 12 -.

Insert with locking fluid (D 185 400 A2)

Bonded using butyl adhesive sealing cord (AKL 450 005 05)
