Rear Fender Assembly Overview

• Overview describes removal and installation of fender for vehicles through June of 2005. Removal and installation applies to vehicles from July 2005, except slight changes.

• Rear fender is component part of rear end and removed together. Refer to=> [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ].

• It is necessary that tightening sequence of bolts - 2 -, - 3 -, - 6 -, - 17 - is observed to ensure surface alignment and joint.





1 Fender

• Removing:

- Remove wheel housing liner. Refer to=> [ Rear Wheel Housing Liner ] Service and Repair.

- Remove taillight cluster.

- Remove fuel flap unit. Refer to => [ Tank Door Unit ] Service and Repair.

- Remove rear end. Refer to => [ Rear Section Assembly Overview ].

- Remove bolt - 17 - and remove clamp - 16 -.

- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 6 - and remove fender.

• Installing:

- Before reattaching rear part, adhere anti-friction foil - 12 - on contact areas again, or check condition of old anti-friction foil.

2 Bolt

• 6 Nm

• Install

• Note tightening sequence

3 Bolt

• 6 Nm

• Insert with locking fluid (D185 400 A2)

• Note tightening sequence

4 Base Plate

• With holes

5 Rear Bumper Cover

• Removing, refer to=> [ Rear Bumper Assembly Overview ] Rear Bumper Assembly Overview

6 Bolt

• 6 Nm

• Insert with locking fluid (D185 400 A2)

• Note tightening sequence

7 Base Plate

• With holes

8 Base Plate

• With welded captive nuts

9 Bolt

• 7.5 Nm

11 Bracket
