Trunk / Liftgate: Adjustments
Rear Lid
Rear Lid, Adjusting
• Rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.
• Vehicle must stand on its wheels in order to be able to perform the adjustment.
• In order to perform the proper adjustment of the rear lid, it is necessary to be careful of three points: even the rear lid (roof with lid), adjust bolt located in the lid hinge and adjust the rubber buffers on both sides of lid.
- After installation or adjustment work, corrosion protection measure must be performed on hinge and bolts.
• With hinge closed, adjustment bolt - 1 - must make contact to top - 2 - without pressure.
- Loosen adjustment bolt - 1 - 1.5 to 3 mm (this adjusts hinge pre-tension).
- With the cover lid open, place a paper stripe - 3 - between the adjustment bolt - 1 - and the top - 2 -.
- Close the cover lid holding the stripe from the outside - 3 - and try to move it.
- If the stripe has no movement, open the cover lid and unscrew the adjustment bolt - 1 - one or two screws to give over pressure to the rear lid hinge.
• The rear lid hinge adjustment is correctly done when the paper stripe - 3 - has no movement with the cover lid closed.
• If the paper stripe - 3 - has any movement, it means that there is no contact between adjustment bolt - 1 - and top - 2 -.
• In this case, open the rear lid, unscrew 1/4 of turn the adjustment bolt - 1 - and check the contact again between the elements - 1 - and - 2 -.
• Consider both sides.
Rear Lid Stop, Adjusting
• Rear lid hinge, end plate and rear lid lock are adjusted.
- Install rubber buffers on both sides of rear lid.
- Install adjustment buffer - 1 - in sealing channel so that adjustment buffer can still just be turned by hand.
- Slide adjustment buffer - 1 - to uppermost position - arrow -.
- Close rear lid completely and open again.
- Slide adjustment buffer - 1 - in sealing channel on both sides upward (dimension - a - = 1 to 2 mm) and tighten bolt - 2 -. Tightening specification: 10 Nm
• Rear lid must be able to be closed without much force and must not have no play up and down when locked. Rear lid is slightly lifted by pre-tension when lock is released.
