Rear Section Assembly Overview, Convertible
• Overview describes removal and installation of rear part for vehicles through June of 2005. Removal and installation applies to vehicles from July 2005, except slight changes.
• Rear fenders and rear bumper cover can only be removed together from vehicle as so-called rear part.
• It is necessary that tightening sequence of bolts - 3 - is observed to ensure surface alignment and joint.
• Rear part must be installed free of stress.
1 Rear Part
• Removing:
- Remove wheel housing liners. Refer to=> [ Rear Wheel Housing Liner ] Service and Repair.
- Remove taillight cluster.
- Remove fuel flap unit. Refer to => [ Tank Door Unit ] Service and Repair.
- Remove bolts - 2 -, - 7 - and - 8 -.
- Remove nuts - 9 -.
- Remove bolts - 3 -.
- Pull left and right rear part to the outside and remove from vehicle toward rear with two mechanics.
• Installing:
- Before reattaching rear part, adhere anti-friction foil - 4 - on contact areas again, or check condition of old anti-friction foil.

• Insert with locking fluid (D 185 400 A2)
