Automatic Rollover Protection Safety Precautions
CAUTION!
• Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
• The battery ground cable must be disconnected when working on the automatic rollover protection.
• Work on the automatic rollover protection must only be performed when it is extended. The automatic rollover protection can be extended with the tester (VAS 5051).
• The automatic rollover protection must have approximately 1 mm of air toward the bottom when engaging in the lowered position.
• No one must be close to rollover protection when connecting battery (minimum distance approx. 1 m).
CAUTION!
• ALWAYS install rollover protection in vehicle as soon as it is removed from packaging.
• Do not leave the automatic rollover protection unit unattended.
• The automatic rollover protection must be stored "in a lying position" during removal.
• The automatic rollover protection must not be disassembled or repaired.
• Roll-over protection that has fallen onto hard surface or shows signs of damage (above all on magnetic switch) must not be reinstalled.
CAUTION!
• After an accident, all damaged parts must be replaced. If no rollover protection damage can be detected, the rollover protection can continue to be used. Perform a function test for the automatic rollover protection with the tester (VAS 5051).
• No objects may be placed on the automatic rollover protection when testing the control unit.
• The automatic rollover protection must always be removed when body repairs are performed in the vicinity of the rollover protection.
• After servicing the body in the vicinity of the rollover protection, check the body for welding beads, deformation and chafe marks (compare with opposite side of vehicle).
CAUTION!
• Persons in vicinity of rollover protection can be injured when it is extending.
• Ensure hand does not touch release lever when rollover protection is inserted. Risk of injury!
• Do not let fall objects into openings when rollover protection is extended. Do not insert the rollover protection in such cases.
• If not engaged correctly, there is danger of injury due to the rollover protection deploying unexpectedly.
• The rollover protection can be extended with the tester (VAS 5051 ).
• The (K145) front passenger airbag -disabled- indicator lamp indicates a malfunction as soon as the number of triggering pulses exceeds the maximum.
• After an accident, all damaged parts must be replaced. If no rollover protection damage can be detected, the rollover protection can continue to be used. A rollover protection function test can be performed with the tester (VAS 5051).
