Input Shaft Assembly Overview

• When installing new gears or new input shaft, refer to technical data => [ Code Letters, Allocation, Ratios, Capacities ] Code Letters, Allocation, Ratios, Capacities.

• If replacement of parts influences the tapered roller bearing position, input shaft must be readjusted. Refer to adjustment overview => [ Adjustment Overview ] Adjustment Overview.





1 Clutch housing

2 Tapered roller bearing outer race

• Pressing out => [ Pressing out tapered roller bearing outer race ] Input Shaft

• Pressing in => [ Pressing in tapered roller bearing outer race ] Input Shaft

3 Tapered roller bearing inner race

• Pressing off => [ Pressing off inner race/tapered roller bearing ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on => [ Pressing on inner race/tapered roller bearing ] Input Shaft

4 Input shaft

• Adjusting => [ Input Shaft, Adjusting ] Input Shaft, Adjusting.

5 Drive gear for 3rd gear

• Installation position: Shoulder faces toward 4th gear

• Pressing off => [ Pressing off 3rd-gear gear-wheel ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on => [ Pressing on drive gear for 3rd gear ] Input Shaft

6 Circlip

• Always replace

7 Drive gear for 4th gear

• Pressing off with tapered roller bearing outer race and sleeve => [ Pressing off drive gear for 4th gear with tapered
roller bearing and sleeve ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on => [ Pressing on drive gear for 4th gear ] Input Shaft

• Shoulder faces toward 3rd gear

8 Tapered roller bearing inner race

• Pressing off with 4th gear, gear wheel and inner race for needle bearing 5th gear => [ Pressing off drive gear for 4th gear with tapered
roller bearing and sleeve ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on => [ Pressing on inner race/tapered roller bearing ] Input Shaft

9 Thrust washer

10 Tapered roller bearing outer race

• Pressing out => [ Pressing out tapered roller bearing outer race ] Input Shaft

• Pressing in => [ Pressing in tapered roller bearing outer race ] Input Shaft

11 Shim

• Determining thickness => [ Input Shaft, Adjusting ] Input Shaft, Adjusting.

12 Transmission housing

13 Sleeve

• Needle bearing for 5th gear

• Replace together with needle bearing

• Pressing off with 4th gear, gear wheel and inner race/tapered roller bearing => [ Pressing off drive gear for 4th gear with tapered
roller bearing and sleeve ] Input Shaft

• Pressing on => [ Pressing on inner race for needle bearing 5th
gear ] Input Shaft

• Place thrust washer before installing => [ (Item 9) Thrust washer ]

14 Needle bearing

• For 5th gear

• Replace together with inner race

15 Gear wheel for 5th gear

• Pulling off together with synchronizer hub for 5th gear => [ Transmission ] Transmission.

16 Synchronizer ring for 5th gear

• With cast locking pieces => [ 5th Gear Synchronizer Ring with Cast Locking
Pieces ] Transmission

• Checking for wear => [ Check 5th Gear Synchronizer Ring ] Transmission

17 Spring

• Installed location => [ Assembling 5th gear locking collar/synchronizer
hub ] Input Shaft and => [ 5th Gear Synchronization Offset Springs ] 5th Gear Synchronization Offset Springs.

18 Locking pieces (Qty. 3)

• Installed location => [ Installation Position of 5th Gear Synchronizer

19 5th gear synchronizer hub

• Removing and installing => [ Transmission ] Transmission.

20 5th gear locking collar

• Removing and installing => [ Transmission ] Transmission.

21 Plate spring

• Installed position => [ Installed Position of Plate Springs for 5th
Gear Synchronizer Hub and Drive Gear Securing Bolts ] Transmission

22 Bolt M10, 80 Nm

• Always replace

• Holds plate spring in position with fitting piece on bolt head => [ Installed Position of Plate Springs for 5th
