Belt Tensioners Safety Precautions
CAUTION!
• Testing, removing, installing and repair work may only be performed by qualified personnel.
• Belt tensioner components may not be opened nor repaired; always use new parts (risk of injury).
• Belt tensioners that were subject to hard blows or have been dropped on the floor, must not be installed in a vehicle.
• Belt tensioners that are mechanically damaged (dents, cracks) must always be replaced.
• Belt tensioner units must be stored and transported according to the guidelines for explosive materials.
• Airbags and belt tensioner units that have not been activated should be labeled and returned to the manufacturer for disposal (use airbag transport containers).
• Deployed belt tensioners can be disposed of as normal scrap.
• Belt tensioners must be installed immediately after removing from shipping package.
• No hammering motions or tools such as impact wrenches may be used to remove the belt tensioner.
• Belt tensioner is to be returned to shipping package when work is interrupted.
• It is not acceptable to leave belt tensioner unattended.
• NEVER treat a belt tensioner unit with grease, cleaning products or anything similar. Do NOT expose the belt tensioner unit to temperatures above 212° F (100 °C) even for a few seconds.
• The pyrotechnic propellant has no expiration date, i.e., it has an unlimited service life and is maintenance-free.
