Lower Track Control Arm
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Measure the dimension from the center of the wheel to the lower edge of the wheel housing. Refer to => [ Rear Subframe ] Rear Subframe.
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Remove the lower track control arm bolt - arrow - and nut from the wheel bearing housing.
Vehicles with Dynamic Headlamp Range Control
- Remove the rear level control system sensor bolts - 1 - from the lower track control arm
Continuation for All
- Using, for example, a felt-tip pen, mark the position of the eccentric bolt - arrow - to the subframe.
- Disengage the rear exhaust system and lower it.
- Remove the lower track control arm bolt - arrow - and nut from the subframe.
- Remove the lower track control arm.
Installing
- Install the lower track control arm to the vehicle and tighten the bolts/nuts hand tight.
Only tighten the track control arm bolts/nuts if dimension "a" is reached. Refer to => [ Tightening of the respective bolts/nuts must then only occur after dimension between the wheel hub center and the lower edge of the wheel housing has been attained. ] Rear Subframe!
- Tighten the lower track control arm to subframe nut to specification.
- Observe the applied marking for the eccentric bolt - arrow - to the subframe.
- Install the rear exhaust system.
Vehicles with Dynamic Headlamp Range Control
- Install the rear level control system sensor bolts - 1 - to the lower track control arm.
Continuation for All
- Tighten the lower track control arm bolt - arrow - to the wheel bearing housing.
- Install the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.
- Perform a vehicle alignment. Refer to => [ Vehicle Alignment ] Vehicle Alignment.
