Halogen Headlamps
• The left stationary cornering lamp (M51) and right stationary cornering lamp (M52) can be checked using the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) output diagnostic test mode.
Removing
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).
• During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the "Coming Home / Leaving Home" functions on its own.
• The illustrations show the procedure for removing and installing the right stationary cornering lamp.
• The procedure for removing and installing the left stationary cornering lamp is the same.
• The illustration shows the removal and installation procedure on a headlamp that has been removed. Do not remove the headlamp to remove and install the cornering lamp bulbs.
- Remove the cap - 1 - from the back of the headlamp.
• A retaining clip - 1 - holds the stationary cornering lamp bulb - 2 - in the reflector.
• Do not disconnect the connector - 3 - first when removing the stationary cornering lamp bulb.
- Press the connector - 3 - in the - direction of the arrow - until the bulb feels looser.
- Pull the cornering lamp bulb at the connector back out of the reflector - 3 -. Be careful of the connected wires.
- Remove the cornering lamp bulb - 2 - from the connector - 1 -.
Stationary cornering lamp bulb: H7U 12 V, 55 W
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Connect the connector on the cornering lamp bulb.
- Guide the cornering lamp into the headlamp housing.
- Press the cornering lamp bulb - 1 - into the illustrated installation position in the reflector.
• The cornering lamp bulb must engage audibly.
• When installing cap, ensure proper seating. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.
• Do not touch the glass of the light bulb, when installing. Fingerprints will leave traces of grease on the glass which will evaporate and cloud the glass when the lamp is switched on.
- Check headlamp for function.
- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary. Refer to => Maintenance Procedures.
