Upper Timing Chain Cover, Removing and Installing

Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)





Open End Spanner Insert AF 10 (V.A.G 1783/1)

Proceed as follows:

- Remove the Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1 (N205) => [ Camshaft Adjustment Valve 1, Removing and Installing ] Service and Repair.

- Remove bolts - 1 through 5 - and remove the upper timing chain cover.





Installing

- Coat the sealing ring and the O-ring with engine oil.

- Tighten the bolts - 1 through 5 - by hand in the illustrated sequence.





- Tighten the bolt to 9 Nm by using the torque wrench (V.A.G 1783) and the open end spanner insert AF 10 (V.A.G 1783/1).

The rest of the assembly is basically a reverse of the disassembling sequence.
