Engine, Installing

Assembly mounting => [ Subframe ] Service and Repair.

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

CAUTION!
When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

• Route lines of all types (e.g. for fuel, hydraulic, EVAP canister system, coolant and refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original path is followed.

• To prevent damages to the lines, make sure there is sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

- Insert new centering sleeves for centering engine/transmission in cylinder block.

- Engage intermediate plate at sealing flange and slide onto alignment bushings - arrows -.





Manual Transmission

- Grease splines of input shaft lightly with grease (G 000 100).

- Inspect and install clutch and clutch mechanism =>
Manual transmission clutch mechanism, servicing.

Vehicles equipped with DSG(R):

- Replace the needle bearings in the crankshaft => [ Needle Bearings, Removing from Crankshaft and Installing ] Needle Bearings, Removing from Crankshaft and Installing.

- Adjust the selector lever cable after installing =>
Transmission Shift Mechanism, Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting.

All Vehicles

- When installing engine/transmission assembly, check for clearance to subframe as well as to radiator.

- Adjust the subframe mount - Passat => [ Subframe Mount, Adjusting, Passat and Passat CC ] Subframe Mount, Adjusting, Passat and Passat CC.

• Tightening specifications of subframe mount => [ Subframe Mount, Rabbit, Eos, Passat and Scirocco, Assembly Overview ] Subframe Mount, Rabbit, Eos, Passat and Scirocco, Assembly Overview.

- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, testing & info. system (VAS 5051B).

- Check all DTC memories and erase all DTC entries which may have occurred during the assembly.

- Perform test drive.

- Then perform vehicle system test and repair any occurring malfunctions.

• If DTC memory was erased, generate readiness code " Guided Function".
