EVAP Canister
Removing
The fuel system is under constant pressure even with the engine off. Before servicing any part of the fuel system, the fuel pressure must be released.
- Remove the fuel cap.
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to => [ Fuel System Pressure Release Procedure ] Service and Repair.
- Loosen and reposition the fuel fill tube hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.
- Remove the fuel fill tube hose from the fuel tank.
- Disconnect body wiring harness electrical connector from the fuel pump.
- Disconnect fuel line quick connect fitting (1) and evaporative emission line quick connect fitting (2).
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the evaporative system integrity monitor switch (2).
- Disconnect the fuel fill vapor hose from fuel tank control valve hose.
- Disconnect the fresh air hose (3) from the ESIM switch (2).
Support the fuel tank with an adjustable transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or the fuel tank to fall from jack.
- Loosen the front fuel tank strap bolts (3) but do not remove.
- Loosen the rear fuel tank strap bolts (3) but do not remove.
- Remove the EVAP canister bracket bolt (1).
- Lower the fuel tank enough to remove the EVAP canister bracket.
- Disconnect the vapor line quick connect fitting from the EVAP canister (1).
- Disconnect EVAP canister quick connect fitting (3) from the fuel tank control valve.
- Remove the EVAP canister (2).
Installing
- Install the EVAP canister (2).
- Connect the EVAP canister quick connect fitting (3) to fuel tank control valve.
- Connect vapor line quick connect fitting to the EVAP canister (1).
- Raise the fuel tank into vehicle position.
- Install the EVAP canister bracket bolt (1). Tighten the bolt to 55 Nm (41 ft lbs).
- Tighten the fuel tank strap bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to 55 Nm (41 ft lbs).
- Connect fresh air hose (3) to ESIM switch (2).
- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to ESIM switch (2).
- Connect the fuel line quick connect fitting (1) and the EVAP line quick connect fitting (2).
- Connect body wiring harness electrical connector to the fuel pump.
- Install the fuel fill tube hose to the fuel tank.
- Position and tighten the fuel fill tube hose clamp (1) at the fuel tank.
- Use the scan tool auto shutdown fuel system test to pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks.
