Oxygen Sensor, Bank 1 Sensor 2
Oxygen Sensor, Bank 1 Sensor 2
Removing
The exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes and catalytic converters become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensor. Failure to allow the engine to cool before removal may result in personal injury caused by burns.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
• Use an oxygen sensor socket for this procedure.
- Disconnect the O2S wire harness clips from engine or body, as equipped.
When disconnecting sensor electrical connector, do not pull directly on wires going into oxygen sensor. Damage to the oxygen sensor may occur.
- Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) from the O2S pigtail.
- Remove the O2S (2) from the catalytic converter (1).
Installing
The threads of the new replacement O2S are coated with anti-seize compound from the factory in order to aid in removal. Do not add any additional anti-seize compound to the threads of a new replacement O2S.
- Install the O2S (2) to the catalytic converter (1). Tighten the O2S to 41 Nm (30 ft lbs).
- Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (3) to the O2S pigtail.
When equipped: The O2S pigtail harness must be clipped and/or bolted back to their original positions on the engine or body to prevent mechanical damage to wiring.
- Connect the O2S wire harness clips to engine or body, as equipped.
- Lower the vehicle.
