Growl, Hum or Grind Sound at the Front Wheel Hub and Bearing

The customer may describe a noise coming from the front of the vehicle when driven.

Technical Background

Front wheel hub bearing noise from front suspension.

Vehicles may experience premature front wheel bearing wear, resulting in a growl, hum or grinding noise while driving.

Service

Procedure:

1. Road test vehicle for 5 minutes.

2. Was there a growling, humming or grinding sound at the front wheels?

YES: Proceed to step 3.

NO: Continue further diagnosis, this bulletin does not apply.

3. Raise and support vehicle.

4. Replace both wheel hub and bearing assemblies, see Repair Group 40 in ElsaWeb.

Note:
Front wheel bearing hub assemblies must be ordered and replaced in pairs!
