Vibration at the Front of the Vehicle while Braking and or Front Brake Lining Life
Technical Background
This bulletin involves installing new brake linings and replacing both brake rotors as required This bulletin applies to vehicles built after January 01, 2009 and before May 02, 2011.
Production Solution
New improved brake pads introduced.
Service
Diagnosis
^ Road test the vehicle for 5 minutes and intermittently apply the brakes.
Were there any vibrations experienced when braking?
Yes: Proceed to repair procedure.
No: Proceed to brake lining inspection.
Brake Lining Inspection
^ Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies, see Repair Manual Suspension, Wheels, Steering Group 44 in ElsaWeb.
^ Using a Brake Lining Thickness Gauge or Brake Pad/Shoe Gauge, measure brake lining thickness.
^ Perform the repair procedure if the brake lining usable material, at its thinnest point, measures 4mm (0.1575 in.) or less.
Repair Procedure
^ Remove the front brake linings and brake disc's, see Repair Manual, Chassis, Brake System Group 46 Mechanical Components in ElsaWeb.
^ Clean brake disc to hub face contact surface to ensure flat contact surface.
^ Install replacement brake disc's Part No. 7B0615301B and front brake linings from kit Part No. 7B0698151F, see Repair Manual, Chassis, Brake System Group 46 Mechanical Components in ElsaWeb.
