Removing






- Remove the camshaft cover(s). Refer to one of the following:

• Left camshaft cover. Refer to => [ Left Camshaft Cover ] Left Camshaft Cover.

• Right camshaft cover. Refer to => [ Right Camshaft Cover ] Right Camshaft Cover.

- Using suitable locking pliers, remove the tube (1) from the cylinder head and discard tube.

- Clean the area around the spark plug with Volkswagen genuine parts cleaner, or equivalent.

Installing






- Apply Volkswagen genuine parts stud and bearing mount to the new tube (1) approximately 1 mm (0.039 in) from the end of tube, in a 3 mm (0.118 in) wide area.

- Install the tube (1) into the cylinder head. Then carefully install the tube (1) using a hardwood block and mallet. Install the tube (1) until it is fully seated into the bottom of its bore.

- Install the camshaft cover(s). Refer to one of the following:

• Left camshaft cover. Refer to => [ Left Camshaft Cover ] Left Camshaft Cover.

• Right camshaft cover. Refer to => [ Right Camshaft Cover ] Right Camshaft Cover.
