Removing


To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect the negative battery cable, refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the SRS. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.






- Remove the instrument panel center bezel (1).

- Disconnect the wire harness connector from the back of the instrument panel switch pod (2).

- Remove the screws (3) securing the switch pod to the back of the center bezel.

- Remove the switch pod.

Installing

- Position the instrument panel switch pod (2) to the back of the instrument panel center bezel (1).






- Install and tighten the screws (3) securing the switch pod to the center bezel.

- Connect the wire harness connector to the back of the switch pod.

- Install the instrument panel center bezel.

- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Tools and Equipment.
