Fuel Pump: Service and Repair






Fuel Pump Module

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Fuel Pump Lock Ring Wrench (9340)

Removing

- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.

- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the fuel pump module (3).

- Disconnect the fuel line quick connect fitting (2) from the fuel pump module (3). Refer to => [ Quick Connect Fitting Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.







Clean the area around fuel pump module prior to removal. Make sure this area is free of dirt. Failure to clean fuel pump area prior to removal may cause dirt to get into the fuel system causing damage to the fuel system and/or engine.

- Clean the area around fuel pump module with a suitable cleaner and dry with low pressure filtered compressed air.






- Install the fuel pump lock ring wrench (9340) (1) to the lock ring and rotate counterclockwise in order to remove the fuel pump module lock ring (2).

- Remove the fuel pump module.

Installing

- Install the new fuel pump module O-ring seal to the fuel tank.


The fuel pump module must be installed correctly to prevent damage to the fuel pump module.

- Line the fuel pump module mounting tab to the arrow on the fuel tank.






- Set the fuel pump module lock ring into place.

- Install the fuel pump lock ring wrench (9340) (1) and rotate clockwise until the fuel pump module lock ring (2) is seated and locked into place.






- Connect the fuel line quick connect fitting (2) to fuel pump module (3). Refer to => [ Quick Connect Fitting Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to fuel pump module (3).






- Install fuel tank. Refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.
