Bank 1 Oxygen Sensors
Bank 1 Oxygen Sensors
The exhaust manifold, exhaust pipes and catalytic converters become very hot during engine operation. Allow the engine to cool before removing the oxygen sensors. Failure to allow the engine to cool before removal may result in personal injury caused by burns.
Removing
• Use an O2 sensor removal tool for this procedure.
When disconnecting the electrical connector, do not pull directly on the wires going into the oxygen sensor. Damage to the sensor may occur.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
- Disconnect the O2 sensor harness pigtail clips from the engine or body, as required.
- Disconnect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) from the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor pigtail harness connector, if required.
- Remove the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor (2), if required.
- Disconnect wiring harness electrical connector (5) from the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor pigtail harness connector, if required.
- Remove the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor (3), if required.
Installing
When equipped, the O2 sensor pigtail harness must be clipped and/or bolted back in their original positions on the engine or body in order to prevent damage to the wiring.
• The threads of the new oxygen sensor is factory coated with an anti-seize compound to aid in removal. Do not add any additional anti-seize compound to the threads of the new O2 sensor.
- Install the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor (3), if required. Tighten the sensor to 41 Nm (30 ft lbs).
- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (5) to the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor pigtail harness connector.
- Install the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor (2), if required. Tighten the sensor to 41 Nm (30 ft lbs).
- Connect the wiring harness electrical connector (1) to the bank 1 sensor 1 O2 sensor pigtail harness connector.
- Connect the O2 sensor harness pigtail clips to the engine or body, as required.
- Lower the vehicle.
