Technical Background

The outside temperature reading in the cluster is slow to update or inaccurate.

This bulletin involves reprogramming the cabin compartment node (CCN or Cluster)

Production Solution

Software change during production May 2009.

Procedure:

If the customer states that the outside temperature does not change for several minutes, or several miles, after the vehicle is started, and there are no failure codes for this issue, perform the program update below.

Tip:

When programming the instrument cluster on this vehicle it is critical that static battery voltage and battery condition is taken into consideration. If the battery is in a low state of charge it should be charged with the appropriate battery charger first, before attempting to program the instrument cluster.

If the instrument cluster program fails, and the module appears to be in a non-responsive state indicated in red on the ECU topology screen, cycle ignition to the lock position and perform a physical battery disconnect. It is recommended that the battery be disconnected for 1-20 seconds to allow a full system shut down. Once the battery is reconnected, switch the ignition key to the run position, take the appropriate measures to ensure that the battery has a full state of charge before re-attempting to program instrument cluster.
