Oil Pump

Disassembly

When disassembling the transaxle it is necessary to inspect the oil pump (2) for wear and damage.

- Remove the reaction shaft support bolts (1).

- Remove the reaction shaft support (3) from the pump body (1).

- Remove the pump outer gear (2) and inner gear (3) and inspect the pump body (1) and gears for wear and/or damage.

- Reinstall the outer gear (2) and check clearances using a feeler gauge (1).

- Measure the clearance between the outer gear (2) and the pump body (3). Clearance should be between 0.089 to 0.202 mm (0.0035 to 0.0079 in).

- Using the feeler gauge (1), measure the clearance between the outer gear (2) and the crescent (3). The clearance should be between 0.060 to 0.298 mm (0.0023 to 0.0117 in).

- Measure the clearance between the inner gear (4) and the crescent (3). The clearance should be between 0.093 to 0.385 mm (0.0036 to 0.0151in).

- Place an appropriate piece of plastigage across both pump gears.

- Align the plastigage to a flat area on the reaction shaft support housing.

- Install the reaction shaft to the pump housing. Tighten the bolts to 27 Nm (20 ft lbs).

- Remove the bolts and carefully separate the housings. Measure the plastigage following the instructions supplied.

- Clearance between both gear end faces and the reaction shaft support should be between 0.020 to 0.046 mm (0.0008 to 0.0018 in).
