Pressure Control Solenoid






Pressure Control Solenoid

Removing

- Remove the engine cover.

- Remove the battery tray.

- Remove the relay (1) at the core support.






- Drain the cooling system.

- Reposition the clamps (1) for the upper radiator hose (2).






- Remove the upper radiator hose.

- Remove the bolts (1) securing the power steering lines (2).






- Remove the shift cable (1) from the manual lever (2).






- Remove the front sound damper cover fasteners (1) and cover (2).






- Remove the valve body oil pan (1) upper bolts.






- Disconnect the solenoid pack electrical connector (2) at the valve body oil pan (1).






- Raise and suitably support the vehicle.

- Remove the front left wheelhouse liner screws and fold the liner (2) back.






- Turn the wheel (3) fully to the left.

- If equipped with the 3.8L engine, remove the exhaust crossover pipe.

- Remove the bolt (2) for the ground cable (3).

- Remove the clip (1) at the valve body oil pan.






- Move the ground cable (3) away from the valve body oil pan.

- Remove the pressure tap plug (2) from the valve body oil pan.






- Remove the valve body oil pan lower bolts (1) and drain the transaxle fluid.

- Remove the valve body oil pan.

- Remove the pressure control solenoid bolt (1).






- Remove the pressure control solenoid (2) from the valve body.

Installing

- Install the pressure control solenoid (2) to the valve body.






- Install the pressure control solenoid bolt (1). Tighten the bolt to 6 Nm (53 in lbs).

- Install the valve body oil pan, use a bead of RTV sealant.

- Install the valve body oil pan lower bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 in lbs).






- Install the pressure tap plug (2) to the valve body oil pan and tighten the plug to 6 Nm (53 in lbs).

- Lower the vehicle.

- Connect the solenoid pack electrical connector (2) to the valve body oil pan (1).






- Raise the vehicle.

- Install the valve body oil pan (1) lower bolts and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 in lbs).






- Position the ground cable (3) and install the bolt (2). Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 in lbs).






- Install the clip (1) to the valve body oil pan.

- Install the front sound damper cover (2) and fasteners (1).






- If equipped with the 3.8L engine, install the exhaust crossover pipe.

- Move the left side wheelhouse liner (2) into place and install the screws.






- Lower the vehicle.

- Install the bolts (1) securing the power steering lines (2) and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 in lbs).






- Install the shift cable (1) to the manual lever (2).






- Install the upper radiator hose (2) and position the clamps (1).






- Fill the cooling system.

- Install the relay (1) at the core support.






- Install the battery tray.

- Fill the transmission with fluid and road test.
