Rear Parking Aid
• Familiarity with the function and operation of the parking aid is essential when addressing customer complaints.

The rear parking aid system, or Park Distance Control (PDC), assists the driver while backing-up by indicating acoustically the distance to an obstruction behind the vehicle. The parking assistance switches on automatically whenever Reverse gear is engaged.
There are differences between vehicles equipped with rear parking aid and vehicles equipped with front parking aid and parallel parking assistance.
The rear parking aid system consists of:
• Rear Parking Aid Control Module (J446)
• Rear Parking Aid Warning Buzzer (H15)
• Left Rear Parking Aid Sensor (G203)
• Left Rear Center Parking Aid Sensor (G204)
• Right Rear Center Parking Aid Sensor (G205)
• Right Rear Parking Aid Sensor (G206)
DTC Recognition and Display:
The parking aid system is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capabilities which assists in troubleshooting.
For troubleshooting, use Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) in operating mode " Guided Fault Finding".
Perform output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) to test the entire parking aid system.
