Front Door: Adjustments
Door, Adjusting
• The vehicle must be resting on its wheels to adjust the front door.
• The front door is adjusted properly when it has an even gap dimension overall when closed, it does not rest too far in or out and the contours align.
• To check gap dimensions:
• Perform corrosion protection measures on the hinge and bolts after assembly or adjusting work.
For correct gap dimension adjustment, screws - 3, 4, 6 and 7 - at A-pillar must be loosened. For screw - 5 -, lower A-pillar trim must be removed,
Other measures, such as aligning the door upward, are not effective. Excess pressure thereafter will again cause the door to sag.
The bolts- 2 and 5 - must be loosened in order to correctly adjust the flush dimension.
For this, the door adjusting wrench (3320) with the bit insert (3320/3) must be used.
Adjust striker pin.
Striker Pin, Adjusting
• The following describes adjusting the right front door only. Adjusting the left front door is identical.
• When closing, the front door must latch completely without having to press it and it must not have any play.
• The door must not be pushed up or down when adjusting the striker pin.
The striker pin can be used to adjust:
• If the front door does not align with the rear door.
- Loosen the latch bracket - 1 - by loosening the bolts - 2 - on the A-pillar.
- Adjust front door with striker pin - 1 - so that front door aligns with rear door when closed (wind noise).
- Tighten the striker pin - 1 - bolts - 2 -.
Screw - 2 - tightening specification: 20 Nm.
