Dimmer Switch: Service and Repair

Instrument Panel and Switch Illumination Dimmer Switch and Headlamp Range Control Adjuster

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim Removal Wedge (VAS 3409)

• Depending the on vehicle equipment level, either just an instrument panel light dimmer switch is installed or a combination instrument panel light dimmer switch with the headlamp adjuster.

• Removal and installation of both components is performed in the same manner.

• When removing and installing components in a visible area (switches, covers, trim, etc.), mask off the areas at which a prying tool ( (VAS 3409) , screwdriver) will be positioned, using commercially available adhesive tape.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

- Carefully pry the instrument panel light dimmer switch - 1 - out of the instrument panel using the (VAS 3409).






- Release and disconnect the connector - 1 - and remove the instrument panel light dimmer switch - 2 -.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.
