Trailer Lights Do Not Switch Off

Technical Background

A software deviation of the body control module may cause the trailer lights to remain ON, even though the vehicle lighting is switched OFF.

Service

Procedure

1. Connect Incharge 940 (INC-940) Battery charger/maintainer.

2. Connect the VAS 6150/5051B or VAS 5052A tester select engine electronics" (address 1)

3. Code the Body Control Module as follows:

^ BCM coding address 09: set byte 11 bit 2 to 1. (activation of permanent running light)

^ BCM coding address 09: Set Byte 09 bit 7 to 0.

^ Manually deactivate the permanent running light: Press the indicator and main beam lever down and back, and hold (left indicator and headlamp flasher). Switch the ignition ON for 3 seconds.

^ BCM coding address 09: Set byte 11 bit 2 to 0 (deactivation of permanent running light). BCM coding address 09: Reset byte 09 bit 7 to 1.
