The symptom is more likely to occur when using the key fob or KESSY button.

Technical Background

Software issue causes the symptom.

Production Solution

Improved software as of VIN: A9_AD002167 Service Replace and recode Comfort System Central Control Module -J393-, see Repair Manual Group 70 Interior Trim, Removal and Installation of Luggage Compartment Side Trim in ElsaWeb.

Tip:
Modules with new software are identified by the production date below the part number. This date should be on or after 4709. See image below.
