Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.

- Remove the pipe connecting the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor and turbocharger. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing Overview ] Description and Operation.

- Disconnect the connector - arrow - from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62).





- Remove the ECT sensor.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

• Replace O-ring.

- Tighten the ECT sensor to 2 Nm.

- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
