Battery Layouts

Different battery systems are installed on the Touareg:

The One Battery System

With a battery (with visual indicator but with no cell plugs) under front left seat.

The One Battery System with an Auxiliary Battery

With a battery (with visual indicator but with no cell plugs) under left front seat and also a second battery (a valve-regulated lead acid battery) in spare wheel recess in luggage compartment. On vehicles with a collapsible spare tire, there may also be a wet battery with visual indicator (visual indicator).

• The auxiliary battery is installed on vehicles with additional equipment, for example, an auxiliary heater.

The Two Battery Concept

• The two-battery system with a logical function separation in the vehicle electrical system battery and starter battery is only available for the Touareg V10 TDI.

With a battery (with visual indicator but with no cell plugs) under left front seat and also a second battery (a valve-regulated lead acid battery) in spare wheel recess in luggage compartment. On vehicles with a collapsible spare tire, there may also be a wet battery with visual indicator (visual indicator).
