Windshield Wiper Motor, Installing in Wiper Frame
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
- In vehicles starting with 11.07, deactivate the Alternating Park Position (APP function), refer to => [ Wiper Motor APP Functions, Deactivating Starting 11.07 ] Testing and Inspection.
• If during a repair a windshield wiper linkage with part number 7L0.955.601.B/ 602.B or higher is installed on a Touareg through MY 2007 (CW 22/07), the plenum chamber cover must also be replaced. Use plenum chamber cover 7L6.819.401.K 9B9, one a cover with a higher index number.
- Insert windshield wiper motor into wiper frame and secure it with mounting bolts - arrows -.
- Tighten the threaded connections to the specification given in the assembly overview. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
- Let windshield wiper motor run to rest position; to do so, connect the battery, attach the connector to the windshield wiper motor and operate windshield wiper switch briefly.
• Hood ( Front Hood Switch (F266) ) must be closed to activate windshield wiper functions.
- Place crank - 2 - onto shaft of windshield wiper motor, the distance - A - between crank - 2 - and pin - 3 - must be 4 mm.
- Thread on crank - 2 - with hex nut - 1 -.
- Tighten the hex nut - 1 - to the specification given in the assembly overview. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
• When connecting battery, always perform work procedure as described in repair manual. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting. Not adhering to sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
• Observe notes for threaded connections of battery terminals. Refer to => [ Battery Post/Terminal ] Battery Post/Terminal.
- Connect battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
• If Wiper motor control module (J400) or Windshield Wiper Motor (V) is replaced, Wiper motor control module must be coded. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module, Coding ] Testing and Inspection.
