Rear Lid, Adjusting

Perform the adjustment to prevent noise from the rear lid.

The vehicle must be on the ground when adjusting the rear lid.

The rear lid latch - 4 - is attached directly to the rear lid - 1 -. There are no oblong holes in the rear lid, therefore it is not possible to adjust the latch.

The lower left and right adjusting buffers - 2 - and the left and right side adjusting buffers - 3 - are not for adjusting. Their function is to stabilize and to cushion the rear lid - 1 -.

The rear lid is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed, it is not too far inward or outward and contours align.

Rear lid must engage in striker pin without great force.






Perform the following:

- remove the rubber buffer - 1 -.






- Remove the clamping screw - 1 -.






- Pull the notched slider - 3 - off of the adjustment buffer - 2 -.






Do not completely remove the notched slider.

- Unclip the cap - 1 - from the adjusting buffer - 3 -.






- Remove the rubber buffer.

- Slightly loosen the bolt - 2 - on the adjusting buffer - 3 - until the adjusting buffer moves easily.

- Slide the adjusting buffer - 3 - all the way in the direction of the arrow.

- Close the rear lid.

To adjust or control gap dimensions use the adjustment gauge (3371) => 00.

- Open tailgate.






- The rear lid - 1 - can be adjusted in the large opening in the hinge by loosening the nuts - 6 - and the bolts - 7 - - arrows a - and - arrows b -.

Nut - 6 - tightening specification: 24 Nm

Bolt - 7 - tightening specification: 10 Nm.

- After adjusting, apply a corrosion protection to the hinge and bolts.

The notched slider - 3 - must be on the outside of the adjusting buffer - 2 -.






- Lightly close the rear lid - in the direction of the arrow - up to the first locking position.






- Close the rear lid.

- Open the rear lid again.

- Pull the notched slider - 3 - inward two teeth.






- Install the rubber buffer.

- Install the clamping screw - 1 - to the depth - a -= 20 mm.






- Slide the adjusting buffer - 3 - in the - direction of arrow - until it stops.






- Close the rear lid.

- Open the rear lid again and lightly tighten the bolt - 2 -.

- Pull the rubber buffer inward two teeth opposite - direction of arrow -.

- Tighten the bolt - 2 -.

Bolt - 2 - tightening specification: 10 Nm.

- Install the rubber buffer and the cap - 1 -.

Adjustment, Checking

- Lay a sheet of paper between the contact surface for the rear lid and the side adjusting buffers.






- Repeat the check for the lower adjustment buffer.






The sheet must catch and must not exhibit any play.
