Exhaust System Overview
1 from the Turbocharger
2 Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter
Danger of causing damage to the coupling element:
• Do not bend the coupling element more than 10°.
• Do not stretch the coupling element.
• Do not damage the wire mesh on the coupling element.
• Protect the catalytic converter from shocks and impact stress.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter ] Service and Repair.
• Align the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension ] Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension.
• Checking the exhaust system for leaks. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.
3 Bolt
• 23 Nm
4 Heated Oxygen Sensor
• 55 Nm
• Bank 1, sensor 2.
• Coat the threads with hot bolt paste. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Make sure the hot bolt paste does not get into the slits in the sensor body.
• Heated oxygen sensor 2 (G108)
5 Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter (G130)
• 55 Nm
• Bank 1, sensor 1.
• Coat the threads with hot bolt paste. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Make sure the hot bolt paste does not get into the slits in the sensor body.
6 Retaining Loop
• Replace if damaged.
• Follow the parts number.
7 Clamping Sleeve
• For individual replacement of the front and rear mufflers.
• Note the installed position, refer to => [ Clamping Sleeve Locations ] Clamping Sleeve Locations.
• Tighten the nuts evenly.
8 Suspended Mount
• Replace if damaged.
9 Bolt
• 23 Nm
10 Front Muffler
• Original equipment as one unit with the rear muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
• Exhaust system, separating and connecting. Refer to => [ Exhaust Pipe and Muffler, Separating ] Exhaust Pipe and Muffler, Separating.
• Align the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension ] Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension.
• Checking the exhaust system for leaks. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.
11 Suspended Mount
• Replace if damaged.
12 Rear Muffler
• Original equipment as one unit with the front muffler. For repairs, replace each separately.
• Exhaust system, separating and connecting. Refer to => [ Exhaust Pipe and Muffler, Separating ] Exhaust Pipe and Muffler, Separating.
• Align the exhaust system free of stress. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension ] Exhaust System, Aligning Free of Tension.
• Checking the exhaust system for leaks. Refer to => [ Exhaust System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.
