Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair






A/C Compressor

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Robinair A/C Service Unit (ROB 134APF) or newer model

Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

There is a danger of ice-up.

Refrigerant leaks out if refrigerant circuit is not discharged.

Refrigerant must be extracted before opening the refrigerant circuit. If refrigerant circuit is not opened within 10 minutes of extraction, pressure may form in refrigerant circuit due to evaporation. Extract refrigerant once more.

Removing

Refrigerant must be extracted before hand using, for example (ROB 134APF) or subsequent models.

Torque for screws on refrigerant lines to A/C compressor is 22 Nm.

- Extract the refrigerant with the (ROB 134APF) (or newer models) from the refrigerant circuit.

- Remove the noise insulation under the engine.

- Remove the wheel housing liner..

- Remove the ribbed belt - 1 -.

Depending on the engine installed, remove the charge air hose.

- Disconnect the connector from the A/C compressor regulator valve (N280) - 3 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2 - (22 Nm) and remove the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor - 4 -.

- Immediately connect the refrigerant lines and the expansion valve with suitable sealant i.e. with the (VAS 6122).

- Remove the bolts - 5 - (25 Nm) and remove the A/C compressor - 4 - from the sub-assembly bracket.






Installing

- Pay attention to notes for installing A/C compressor. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor Installation Information ] Description and Operation.

- Install the A/C compressor in reverse order of removal. Make sure that the alignment sleeve - 1 - is in the correct position.
