Fuel Tank and Attachments Overview

• Hose connections are secured with either spring type or clamp type clips.

• Always replace clamp type clips with spring type clips.

• Fuel hoses to the engine must only be secured with spring type clips. The use of clamp or screw type clips is not permissible.

• Hose clip pliers (VAS 6340) are recommended for installing spring type clamps.






1 Cap

• Replace the seal if damaged.

2 Bolt

• For the fuel filler door unit with fuel filler door lock.

3 Fuel Filler Door Unit

• With a rubber cup.

4 Fuel Flap Lock

5 Fuel Tank

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.

6 Heat Shield

7 Bolts

• 25 Nm

• For the fuel tank mounting.

8 Tensioning Strap

• Pay attention to the installed position.

9 Lock Ring

• 110 Nm

• Make sure it is secure.

• Use the wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.

10 Seal

• Always replace.

• Install the seal into the fuel tank opening dry.

• Coat the inside of the seal with fuel before installing the fuel delivery unit.

11 Fuel Delivery Unit

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.

• Checking the fuel pump. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

• Note the installation position on the fuel tank. Refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit Installed Position ].

• With the fuel level sensor (G).

• Fuel level sensor, removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G) ] Removal and Replacement.

12 Bolt

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Filter Overview ] Fuel Filter Overview.

13 Fuel Filter

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Filter Overview ] Fuel Filter Overview.

14 Fuel Filter Bracket

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Filter Overview ] Fuel Filter Overview.

15 Bolts

• 11 Nm

• Filler tube to body.

Fuel Delivery Unit Installed Position





The tab - 2 - on the fuel delivery unit must lie between the tabs - 1 and 3 -.

• The - arrow - points in the direction of travel.

• The fuel delivery unit can only be installed in this position.
