Battery Test







Battery Test

Read the Operating Instructions that come with the (VAS 6161).

(VAS 6161) description, refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.

Risk of injury. Observe the warnings and safety precautions => [ Dangers When Working with Batteries ] Dangers When Working with Batteries!

Do not check or charge a battery when the visual indicator has no color or is bright yellow. Jump starting must not be used!

There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.

The battery must be replaced.

The battery temperature must be minimum 10 °C (50° F).

Procedure

Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

Remove the key.

- Check the batteries with the visual indicator, refer to => [ Battery with Visual Color Indicator, Checking ] Battery with Visual Color Indicator, Checking.

- Turn on the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.

- Attach the red clamp (+) to the battery positive terminal.

- Attach the black clamp (-) to the negative terminal on the battery negative terminal.

Make sure the test clamps make good contact!

- Select the following:

Maintenance test (only on new vehicles before becoming inventory), refer to => [ Maintenance Test, Performing ] Maintenance Test, Performing

Service test, refer to => [ Service Test, Performing ] Service Test, Performing.

Warranty test, refer to => [ Warranty Test, Performing ] Warranty Test, Performing.

The test is over after approximately 10 seconds.

The results of the test are output through the printer.

The (VAS 6161) does not have to cool down before taking the next measurement.

- Turn off the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.

- Remove the test clamps.
