Battery Test
• Read the Operating Instructions that come with the (VAS 6161).
• (VAS 6161) description, refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.
Risk of injury. Observe the warnings and safety precautions => [ Dangers When Working with Batteries ] Dangers When Working with Batteries!
Do not check or charge a battery when the visual indicator has no color or is bright yellow. Jump starting must not be used!
There is a risk of explosion during testing, charging or jump starting.
The battery must be replaced.
• The battery temperature must be minimum 10 °C (50° F).
Procedure
• Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
• Remove the key.

- Check the batteries with the visual indicator, refer to => [ Battery with Visual Color Indicator, Checking ] Battery with Visual Color Indicator, Checking.
- Turn on the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.
- Attach the red clamp (+) to the battery positive terminal.
- Attach the black clamp (-) to the negative terminal on the battery negative terminal.
• Make sure the test clamps make good contact!
- Select the following:
• Maintenance test (only on new vehicles before becoming inventory), refer to => [ Maintenance Test, Performing ] Maintenance Test, Performing
• Service test, refer to => [ Service Test, Performing ] Service Test, Performing.
• Warranty test, refer to => [ Warranty Test, Performing ] Warranty Test, Performing.
• The test is over after approximately 10 seconds.
• The results of the test are output through the printer.
• The (VAS 6161) does not have to cool down before taking the next measurement.
- Turn off the (VAS 6161). Refer to => [ Battery Tester VAS 6161 ] Battery Tester VAS 6161.
- Remove the test clamps.
