Radio and Radio/Navigation Systems

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Refer to the individual chapters when removing and installing specifics units:

• Radio system RCD 310, refer to => [ RCD 310 Sound System ] RCD 310 Sound System.

• Radio system RCD 510 (Premium 8), refer to => [ RCD 510 (Premium 8) Sound System ] RCD 510 (Premium 8) Sound System.

• Radio Navigation System RNS 315, refer to => [ RNS 315 Radio Navigation System ] Description and Operation.

• Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

• Remove the key.

Removing

- Remove the center trim..

- Remove the screws - arrows - from the unit - 1 -.






- Pull the unit - 1 - out of the installation slot just far enough until the connectors on the back are accessible.

Connectors - 1 - through - 6 -:






1. Multipin connector, connector housing

2. Connector, navigation antenna

3. Connector, radio antenna

4. Connector, radio antenna

5. Multipin connector for video signals

6. DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting)/SAT (satellite tuner) antenna connector


• The number of connectors and their locations will vary between the different radio/RNS systems being installed.

- Squeeze the tabs on the multipin connector - arrow -.






- Move the retainer in direction of the - arrow -. The connector will be pushed out at the same time.






- Push the retainer - A - onto the audio/video connector and move the mount in direction - B -. The connector will be pushed out at the same time.






- Unlock the antenna connections - arrows - and disconnect the connectors.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal.

• Never press on the display or the control buttons when sliding the radio/RNS back in because otherwise they will get damaged.

- Check the coding and code again if necessary.
