Body Side Moldings

Removing






- Remove the front and rear door bolts - 4 -.

- Protect the painted surfaces with adhesive tape.

- Heat the adhesive tape on the corresponding body side molding - 1 - or - 2 - with the hot air blower (V.A.G 1416).

- Slide the wedge (T10383) between the body and the corresponding body side molding - 1 - or - 2 - and lift off the body side molding.

Installation

Assembly Information

If removing or installing the body side molding, only use the adhesive remover to separate the remaining adhesive from the adhesive tape. Refer to Parts Catalog.

Remove any adhesive residue left by the tape using adhesive remover (VAS 6349).

Make sure there is no dust or grease on the adhesive surfaces.

Apply the body side molding immediately after cleaning.

Remove protective foil only immediately prior to the body side molding assembly.

The temperature must be approximately 21 °C.






Check the grommets - 4 - for damage and replace if necessary.

When reusing the undamaged body side molding, check the clips - 3 - for damage and replace if necessary.

Replace the adhesive tape - 6 - when reusing the undamaged body side molding.

- Follow the installation instructions.

- Remove the protective film from the adhesive tape - 6 -.

- Install the body side molding - 1 - or - 2 - with the clips - 3 - in the grommets - 4 -.

- Push the body side molding - 1 - or - 2 - into the grommets - 4 -.

- Forcefully push the body side molding in the area of the adhesive tape - 6 -.

- Install the front and rear door bolts - 5 - and tighten them.

Tightening specification - 5 -: 2 Nm
